The PAD is delighted to announce the launch of it’s first Higher Education course for over 18s!
Launching in September 2024, with Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Performing Arts, this course is the ideal opportunity to gain a higher-level qualification that will develop practical skills and knowledge in a number of specialist areas. As well as gaining vital performance experience to prepare students for a range of pathways and to pursue a professional career.
Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) launches in September 2025.
The Higher Education at The PAD offers exciting technical and artistic training encompassing the full breath of Performing Arts. Students are nurtured to become creative, highly disciplined and adaptable performers. Graduating students will have full exposure to the industry as young collaborative individuals equipped with resilience and integrity.
The PAD Higher Education faculty has a wealth of experience in both teaching and industry, nurturing students to reach their full potential.

Students at The PAD thrive in an environment where the cohort is small, but the contact hours are high. We get to know each
and every student, developing their strengths and helping them to uncover who they could be as a unique, professional artist.
This course can also be entered into as a 1-year programme (Level 4), or a 2-year programme (Level 4 & 5).
Levels 4 & 5 are provided by Pearsons, in association with The Bedford College Group.
*Year 3 top-up is subject to approval, and planned to commence from 2026.
We are looking for raw talent that can be developed; a passion to perform and a willingness to learn and explore your full potential. Prior training in performing arts and live performance experience is desired. Entry to The PAD is following a successful audition. In addition:
– Students should have achieved a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to x2 A Levels) or 2 A Levels in a relevant field of study.
– 5 GCSE’s with specifically a level 4 achieved in English Language and Mathematics.
– Be 18 years or older (on 1st September for the year of study)
– International Students can apply subject to a current IELTS 6 score, with no single skill being below 5 and for non-native English speakers, proof of English proficiency is required. Please contact us for more information before applying.
If you fulfil the entry requirements you will be invited to attend an Open & Audition Day, during which you will need to perform the following:
One monologue from a published play, classical or contemporary.
(From memory, not from a film, max 2 minutes)
One solo musical theatre song.
(To a full backing track OR bring sheet music, max 2 minutes)
Take part in a Jazz Workshop class and perform taught choreography
Attend an Interview
